OttawaMatters, in partnership with the Ottawa Humane Society, brings you a regular feature highlighting a special pet that is in need of adoption.

Meet Penny (ID# A218036), a playful seven-year-old red and sable labrador retriever and german shepherd mix looking for her forever family.

Did someone say fun? I love being the centre of attention and the life of the party.

I am excited to meet all types of people and will often go up to people and introduce myself if they don’t seem to notice how amazing I am. I am always up for doing moderate amounts of something active like walks, runs, hikes, games and more.

I often love to finish off a great day of excitement with puzzles to further tire me out. Once I get to that point though, I love to flop down next to you and enjoy some quality sleep time. If you like playing, learning and socializing as much as I do, then we will have lots of fun together.

Some unique facts about me: I am happiest when people take things slowly with me until I’m comfortable and get to used to new people, places and things. I would be happiest as the only dog in the home. I know commands like sit, down, come and paw! My new owners should know that I don’t do stairs.

I am a “Foster-Me-First” adoption. Please speak to the staff in the Adoption Centre for more information. You can contact at 613-725-3166 ext. 258 to book an appointment to meet her.
