Adopt Me: Troy the shy Chihuahua (adopted)

A home without other dogs would be ideal as he's scared of other dogs

OttawaMatters, in partnership with the Ottawa Humane Society, brings you a regular feature highlighting a special pet that is in need of adoption.

Meet Troy (ID# A217127), a bashful seven-year-old Chihuahua looking for his forever family.

My name is Troy and my personality type is “Bashful Buddy”. I am cautious and like to take things nice and slow, including in my exercise.

While I can be shy in new and different situations, once I am comfortable I am a very happy and loving companion. A predictable environment, positive training and some time will help me gain confidence, so I can make friends more easily and feel better in new situations.

Some unique facts about me: I would thrive in a home with patient owners who will help me build my confidence at my own pace. A home without other dogs would be ideal as I’m afraid of other dogs.

I am a “Foster-Me-First” adoption. Please speak to the staff in the Adoption Centre for more information.

For more information on Troy and all the adoptable animals, stop by the OHS at 245 West Hunt Club Rd. Check out our website at to see photos and descriptions of the animals available for adoption.

Unable to adopt? Share this feature on social media so each animal can get the exposure it needs and find a loving home.
