The province has handed out more than $5 million in affordable housing funding in the capital's west end.
Most of the money will fund a four-storey addition to the Carlington Community Health Centre on 900 Merivale Road, which will house 42 new affordable housing units for seniors.
Ottawa Community Housing has received $650,000 for six new townhouse units being built on Michele Drive, in Britannia. Four of the units are four-bedroom homes while the other two are five-bedroom modified barrier-free homes for those with physical disabilities.
The announcement was part of a larger announcement including 16 affordable housing developments across Ottawa, totalling more than $54 million in federal-provincial funding and more than 675 units of additional affordable housing.
