The demand for COVID-19 testing in the Champlain region has been “steadily increasing,” the Champlain COVID-19 Response Committee says.

Wait times can now be anywhere from 30 minutes to four hours for testing, depending on the time of day of the week, spokesperson Michaela Schreiter says.

“Our Assessment Centre teams continue to focus on improving the processes at the clinics to decrease wait times while ensuring patients receive care safely,” a statement by the CCRC said. “Together with Ottawa Public Health and Ontario Health, the focus of the region is to expand our capacity as quickly as possible to support the increased demand.”

The CCRC says they’ve increased staffing, extended operation hours and have even planned for additional sites as the region continues to adjust to the increasing demand.

“These adjustments are being implemented in the coming weeks as we put in place longer-term plans to ensure we have a sustainable testing strategy and model for the future.,” CCRC said. “This work is aligned with Ontario Health and Public Health Ontario plans and strategies of ensuring efficient and effective access to testing across the province.”
