Ottawa Public Health is reporting only two new COVID-19 cases in Ottawa but eight deaths — marking a 3.6 per cent increase in deaths since the last report.
This brings Ottawa’s total number of confirmed cases to 1,887 and total deaths to 228 as of Saturday.
Healthcare workers and first responders account for 515 of those cases, or 27 per cent.
The number of patients in hospital is 41, down from 44 since Friday.
Twenty six per cent of those hospitalized are in the 70 to 79 age group.
There continues to be 19 ongoing outbreaks in institutions.
Close contact with a case and out-break associated remains the top reason for people contracting the virus and account for 75 per cent of cases, or 1,423 patients.
