Environment Canada issues winter weather travel advisory for capital region

Snowfall, at times heavy, is expected to affect Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning commutes.

A winter weather travel advisory is in effect for the Ottawa and Gatineau area.

In an advisory issued Monday at 11:16 a.m., Environment Canada said snow is expected to fall on the area Monday afternoon, and continue into the early hours of Tuesday morning. The snowfall will be heavy at times.

The weather agency is expecting to see about 10 cm of snow when all is said and done.

Travel will be impacted, particularly during Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning commutes.

This snowfall is due to a developing low pressure system which will track south of the lower Great Lakes, Monday.

Environment Canada said it will continue to monitor the situation.
