A fire destroyed a farmhouse in Munster Tuesday evening.

Ottawa Fire Services received a 911 call at 7:20 p.m. reporting a house fire at 7783 Bleeks Road.

The residents of the home had just returned, discovered the smoke and called 911. Nobody was inside the home at the time and a pet dog was in another building and not at risk.

A working fire was declared at  7:30 p.m as crews battled the blaze that spread from the basement to the first and second floors, it was under control at 8:20 p.m.

There were no injuries reported but two people will be left homeless.

The cause of fire has not been determined and damage is estimated at $500,000.
