Tara Shannon says Jonathan Pitre loved to sing.

She will be hosting the 4th Annual Butterfly Child Holiday Benefit Concert at Saint Brigid's Centre for the Arts, Friday, December 7, at 7 p.m.

Shannon told 1310 NEWS' Ottawa Today with Mark Sutcliffe, she continues to draw inspiration from Pitre and his mother Tina Boileau.

Listen to the full conversation:

Years ago, Pitre encouraged her to follow her dream of recording and performing music.

The first Butterfly Child Holiday Concert was the first time Shannon had performed on stage in two decades, and she looks forward to honouring Pitre's memory with this year's event.

Other artists performing at the fourth annual concert include the Canadian Showtime Chorus, Sing House Studios, Cody Coyote, Jessica Pearson, Arlene Quinn and Kae Shelby.

Shannon said it's a very family friendly event, and a great way to get into the holiday spirit while raising awareness for a great cause.

All funds raised by the concert will go toward DEBRA Canada, which is fighting the disease which took Pitre's life -- EB.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here.
