A mobile app-based food delivery service will now also deliver alcohol, as part of a pilot project beginning in downtown Ottawa, today.
On-demand food delivery service foodora has partnered with the LCBO to bring same-day alcohol delivery to Ottawa, with a plan to eventually roll it out to other cities.
The service expanded to Ottawa last month, in preparation for foodora's launch with the LCBO. Alongside its food offerings from more than 85 restaurants, foodora now also offers a curated list of popular wine, beer and cider, coolers and liquor from the LCBO.
foodora says its riders in Ottawa are Smart Serve-certified, and will strictly follow the LCBO's mandate to prevent sales to minors, intoxicated adults, and those who appear to be purchasing alcohol for people in either of those groups.
On-demand LCBO delivery is available through foodora, seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a $4 flat delivery fee. The LCBO delivery radius covers downtown Ottawa.
