The National Capital Commission (NCC) is ready to open 7 km of the 7.8 km Rideau Canal Skateway.
Since opening on Saturday, just 2.5 km of the skateway has been open to the public, but the NCC say its crews have been doing lots of flooding in frigid temperatures to ready more of the surface.
The skateway will open between Somerset Street and the Carleton University library stairs on Wednesday at 8 a.m.
Last year's canal skating season lasted until March 10. The earliest it's closed over the last ten seasons was February 18, 2017.
