Nearly 20,000 Ottawa homes and businesses lost power, Monday morning, due to an equipment issue.
It was originally feared that some outages may not be repaired until Monday evening, but as of 10 a.m., Hydro Ottawa had the affected number of customers down to 187.
The ultility made great strides in an hour, as it reported around 9 a.m. that outages still affected about 14,000 in Barrhaven, Bells Corners, Bayshore, Woodroffe, and Rideau Heights.
Hydro Ottawa says the outages are equipment-related, but no further details have yet been provided.
The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board says even though many areas were without power, all of its schools are open as usual.
