Nokia Bike Sundays are back in Ottawa and Gatineau

Over 50 km of road will be car-free for people to enjoy however they please.

The 49th annual Nokia bike Sundays are back!

More than 50 km of road will be available for cyclists in Ottawa and Gatineau, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The event is not just for bikers, people are also encouraged to walk, run or even rollerblade along the routes. 

The first bike Sunday kicks off this weekend at the Remic Rapids parking lot. 

Nokia Bike Sunday routes will close the following streets from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m:

  • Westbound Sir John A. MacDonald Pkwy between Booth Street and Carling Avenue
  • Eastbound and Westbound Colonel By Drive between Daly Street and Hog's Back Bridge
  • Eastbound and Westbound Sir George-Étienne Cartier Pkwy between Aviation Parkway and St. Joseph Blvd

Bike Sunday road closures in Gatineau that will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m: 

  • Gatineau Parkway 
  • Champlain Parkway 
  • Fortune Parkway 

Starting on June 2, riders who want to bike at a high rate of speed will have exclusive access to Sir George-Étienne Cartier Pkwy and the Sir John A. MacDonald Pkwy from 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. 

Families with young children are being urged to ride on Chemin du Lac Meech from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. 

Car-free rides will take place every Sunday from May 19 until September 1.
