Volunteer Ottawa (VO) is set to host its 10th Annual VOscars Awards Gala, and is calling on community members to nominate volunteers or organizations that have made a difference in their lives.

The awards gala will be held at Ottawa City Hall on April 23, so Volunteer Ottawa would like to have all nominations in by February 12.

This year's Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient will be Jacquelin Holzman. VO explains Holzman is a dedicated volunteer and community builder.

"[She] has demonstrated her commitment to giving back to the community through her leadership and involvement with a wide range of social service agencies, charities and health institutions over her lifetime," the volunteer organization wrote in a release, Tuesday.

Holzman joins previous Lifetime Achievement Award winners: Max Keeping, Jim Durrell, Lawrence Greenspon, Grete Hale, Coralie Lalonde, Dave Smith, James McCracken and Dennis Jackson.

Every year, individuals and organizations that exemplify the spirit of volunteering and have contributed to the community are also nominated for the following awards:

  • Mayor's Award for Volunteer Spirit
  • Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award
  • Outstanding Senior Volunteer Award
  • Leadership in Corporate Volunteerism
