Two Ottawa bus drivers are being recognized after preventing a teenaged girl from jumping off the Mackenzie King Bridge.
The story of Bruce and Sharon and this girl was shared at Wednesday morning's transit commission meeting and both employees were awarded certificates.
Transit Commission Chair Stephen Blais said the girl crossed paths with one of the bus drivers back in February.
"Bruce felt something was wrong, so he kept a close eye on her as he crossed the bridge," explained the councillor. "Just then, the girl began to climb onto the edge of the bridge. Bruce ran towards her and yelled to get the attention of onlookers."
Blais said he then grabbed the girl's arm, preventing her from jumping. Another bus driver, Sharon, helped him pull the girl back to safety.
