A four-year member of the Ontario Provincial Police in the East Region is facing charges in what police have termed a "domestic incident."
Professional Standards Bureau investigators, acting on a complaint, started an investigation in October of last year.
A 30-year old man is charged with three counts of Sexual Assault, and three counts of Overcome Resistance by Choking.
In a release, OPP say the member has been suspended with pay in accordance with the Police Services Act of Ontario and will appear in court at a later date.
The officer is not being identified.
