Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is reporting no new deaths related to COVID-19 and just eight new cases of the virus in the community.

That brings the city's number of lab-confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic to 1,977.

The number of resolved cases is up to 1,634 (83 per cent), which means there are 343 active cases in the city that OPH has been made aware of.

There have been 247 deaths related to COVID-19 in Ottawa, according to the public health authority.

OPH says there are just 16 institutional outbreaks on Wednesday, as the ones in The Ottawa Hospital's General Campus 7 East wing and the Westwood Retirement Residence have been resolved.
