John Angnaluak of Ottawa after winning a $1-million prize in the December 21, 2018 Lotto Max draw.

"This is my first big win," shared Angnaluak, a 56-year old janitorial employee, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his cheque.

"I usually play Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 but sometimes grab an Instant ticket too," he added.

After validating his winning ticket at the retailer, Angnaluak was in disbelief but said he was very happy as well.

With his winnings, he plans on finding a new home, helping his siblings and putting some away for a vehicle.

The winning ticket was purchased at Smokwana Convenience Store on Olmstead Street in Vanier.
