Ottawa man accused of threatening to shoot police at Quebec border checkpoint

Police received a phone call from someone who threatened shoot police officers and their vehicle.

An Ottawa man has been arrested by Gatineau police, accused of threatening to shoot police officers if Quebec did not end the current border checkpoints on the bridges between the two cities.

Police received a phone call from someone who threatened shoot police officers and their vehicle if the COVID-19-related checkpoints continued, Tuesday night.

Ottawa police officers assisted Gatineau police, who arrested a 70-year-old man at his home, Wednesday night.

The man was taken by police to Gatineau, where he appeared in court, Thursday, on a charge of uttering a threat.
