Ottawa police officers will be handing out smiles in the community — Tim Hortons Smile Cookies, that is.

On Thursday, officers will be “paying it forward” to help support the Ottawa Snowsuit Fund, all while spreading smiles.

“This year, as in many years, Tim Hortons has a cookie campaign — it is a national campaign,” Acting Deputy Chief Mark Ford explained. “But locally here in Ottawa, the small cookie campaign put on by Tim Hortons has been in support of the Snowsuit Fund, and we’re really happy to be a benefactor.

One hundred per cent of all the funds sold through Tim Hortons in the capital through that campaign will go directly to the Snowsuit Fund.

“This year, more than other years I think, I truly believe families are going to be finding it tougher to make financial ends meet,” he said. “There are so many charities out there to try and help these families, and the Snowsuit Fund is one of those charities.”

The Cookies will be handed out across the city by five different police divisions:

  • Central division - 474 Algin St.
  • West division - 245 Greenbank Rd.
  • West division - 211 Hunter Dr.
  • East division - 4561 Bank St.
  • East division - 3343 St. Joseph Blvd.
