Ottawa Tourism is teaming up with Algonquin College and La Cité to launched Ottawa Host Customer Service Training.
It's a free training tool, looking to empower hotel, attraction, restaurant, and transportation frontline staff with knowledge and information needed to provide outstanding customer service to Ottawa visitors.
The training consists of two modules: I Know #MyOttawa, and I Host #MyOttawa.
The first module is dedicated to destination knowledge, while the second is dedicated to customer service excellence.
Once a participant completes both modules, they receive a certificate, confirming their successful completion of the Ottawa Host Customer Service Training.
"Customer service is crucial in the tourism industry and has the power to make or break people's perceptions of a destination," says Michael Crockatt, President and CEO of Ottawa Tourism. "This new training tool equips our dedicated tourism industry professionals with the destination knowledge and skills required to provide excellent customer service."
This training tool is one of the Canada 150 legacy projects, and was first introduced to the industry as a way of training Ottawa 2017 volunteers and local frontline staff last year.
Although the training is primarily aimed toward tourism industry frontline staff, the tool is also open to Ottawa residents who wish to learn more about the destination and become ambassadors for Ottawa or to add to their professional skills.
