Amid ongoing COVID-19 concerns, it's business as usual for organizers of Ottawa's RBC Bluesfest.

In a statement Tuesday afternoon, Director of Media Relations A.J Sauve wrote, "RBC Bluesfest is closely monitoring the situation and will carefully follow the recommendation of public health experts."

Festival organizers are in contact with Ottawa Public Health and say they are monitoring their daily updates.

Since Ottawa and Ontario public health officials have advised that the risk of contracting COVID-19 remains low, RBC Bluesfest says its preparations are continuing as planned, in order to stage the event from July 9 to 19.

"The health and safety of our community is paramount," said Sauve.

Pearl Jam cancelled its North American tour on Tuesday, which included a March stop at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa.
