An employee of a pharmacy in Sandy Hill has tested positive for COVID-19, and the store's parent company says it's since taken extra precautions.

The employee, at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Rideau Street near King Edward Avenue, recently tested positive on a presumptive test for COVID-19. Loblaw, the parent company of Shoppers Drug Mart, did not provide a date when the test occurred nor when the employee was last at work.

Loblaw says it is reaching out to local public health officials and that it has cleaned and increased sanitization protocols at the store, and is enforcing social distancing practices.

Other pharmacy employees who were in close contact with the worker who tested positive are now at home in self-isolation, according to Loblaw, and are monitoring themselves for any symptoms.
