The CEO of the Rideau Transit Group believes the city will get the keys to its light rail Confederation Line on or before March 31, but the General Manager of Transportation Services at the City of Ottawa isn't so sure.
At a meeting Tuesday morning, John Manconi said he was concerned with the March date, as he is "highly skeptical" of the system being ready for handover at that time.
His comments came after RTG CEO Peter Lauch told the mayor and city councillors that the dealine would be met.
Mayor: you already missed 2 deadlines. Why do we believe you now?— Jenn Pritchard (@JennnPritchard) February 12, 2019
Lauch: as we get closer to completing project... easier to be confident deadline can be met.
Mayor Jim Watson then reminded him of the $1-million penalty if this deadline is missed.
