A closing celebration is underway this weekend for the eighth season of the Ottawa Senators Foundation's I Love To Skate program.

The program provides disadvantaged youth in neighbourhoods across Ottawa with the opportunity to learn how to skate at City of Ottawa outdoor rinks with certified instructors.

Participants receive a helmet and skates courtesy of Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities and the Ottawa Senators Foundation.

Saturday's season finale is expected to see more than 700 participants and members of their immediate families enjoy the opportunity to skate on the same ice surface as the Ottawa Senators.

Since the inception of the I Love to Skate program seven years ago, more than 4,000 children have benefited from I Love To Skate.
