A CityNews employee has confirmed her mother was one of the two victims involved in the 417 crash, Sunday.
Corinne Monette, 62, died after a multi-vehicle collision on the 417, near Panmure Road.
Her daughter wrote on Twitter that she's "used to reporting on things like this all the time, but when it's your family it's different. I hope you can all appreciate that I and my family would like privacy during this difficult time. Please remember mom as a beautiful woman with a heart of gold."
A 36-year-old man who was under investigation by the OPP and Ottawa police at the time of the collision was also killed.
Police say the suspect vehicle drove the wrong way on the 417, striking Monette's vehicle head-on and causing a six-vehicle chain reaction crash.
Two men in their late 20's were also seriously injured in the collision. They were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been called in to investigate the crash. The SIU only investigates incidents involving the police and civilians that have resulted in serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault.
