Three pot shops open in Ottawa

Of the 25 licences handed out by the Ontario government, only 10 stores have been approved by the AGCO.

The first three brick-and-motar cannabis stores opened on Monday in Ottawa.

Until now, the only way to purchase legal pot was through the online Ontario Cannabis Store.

Spokesperson for Hobo Recreational Cannabis Store Ottawa Harrison Stoker talks about their grand opening on 1310 NEWS' The Rick Gibbons Show:

The three shops set to open in Ottawa:

  • Superette - 1306 Wellington St. West
  • Hobo Recreational Cannabis Store - 391 Bank St.
  • Fire & Flower York St. Cannabis - 129 York St.

As part of the rules, all minors will be prevented from entering cannabis stores, they won't even be able to get a look inside.

"Keeping with the regulations, from the outside of the store you won't be able to see anything," said Fire & Flower York Street Cannabis owner Michael Patterson. "Just because we don't want minors to peer into the store and see anything that they shouldn't."

All three stores boast a more modern way of purchasing cannabis, through the help of experts who will help customers decide what they need.
