Two displaced after south end fire

The Red Cross and the Salvation Army have been called in to assist.

Ottawa Fire Services received a call at 2:38 a.m. Tuesday about a fire in the city's south end. 

Crews were called to 1803 Russell Road, north of Smyth Road, where they located a fire in the kitchen of one unit in an eight-unit row house. 

There are no injuries reported but two people have been displaced by the blaze. 

The Red Cross and the Salvation Army have been called in to assist. 

Officials estimate the amount of damage to the home is $40,000. 

The fire investigation is ongoing.
