Doreen Mary Greenwood (Sloan)

1927 - 2019

Passed away peacefully Friday March 8, 2019 at Valley Stream Retirement Home at the age of 91. Doreen was born on December 21, 1927 in Ottawa to Percy and Lillian Sloan. Doreen grew up with 2 brothers Donald and Emmett and a sister Thelma. She attended school in Ottawa and worked in the bank, initially at the Bank of Nova Scotia and retiring from the Bank of Commerce, Carlingwood branch on January 1, 1993 after 24 years of service. Doreen married Stan Greenwood August 19, 1950 and they had five children Sherry, Alan, Kevin, Danny and David. Doreen was dedicated to her family and as a  loving mother and great friend, she put others ahead of herself. She loved to get together with friends and family and enjoyed the many trips she took with Stan. She will be remembered as a caring and generous woman with inner strength and a sense of humour.

Doreen was predeceased by her husband Stan of 52 years, their son Danny and her bothers, sister and parents. She is survived by her daughter Sherry (Derek) of London, Ontario; son Alan (Tracy) of Kelowna B.C; son Kevin (Cathy) of Kanata; daughter in law Anne Soutar of Ottawa; son David ( Diane) of Stittsville. Doreen was a loving Granny to Jessica, Andrew, Mikayla, Jeremy, Alexi, Mark, Peter and Blair.

A celebration of Doreen's life will take place Tuesday April 9 at 11 am at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and Mc Garry with Cannon Stewart Murray officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A reception will be held following the service. Internment at Beechwood Cemetery.

Doreen will be deeply missed and always remembered.
