Arrest made following carjacking on Hazeldean Road in Stittsville

Several calls to 911 about an erratic driver in the area lead police to track down the stolen vehicle.

A 41-year-old man is facing nine offences after stealing a vehicle on Hazeldean Road at Huntmar Drive in Stittsville.

Officers were called to the area at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday night, after they say someone had their car keys taken from them and their car stolen. 

Several calls to 911 about an erratic driver in the area lead police to track down the stolen vehicle. Officers were able to stop the vehicle and arrest the suspect. 

Ernest Schuhknecht, of no fixed address, has been charged with:

  • Robbery
  • Impaired Operation of a Conveyance
  • Refusal to Comply with a Demand
  • Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
  • Failure to Stop after an accident
  • Resisting A peace Officer
  • Theft over $5000
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000
  • Breach of Probation 

He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
