Charges laid in Glebe knifepoint robbery

According to police, the suspect was stealing perfume.

The Ottawa Police Service has charged a 34-year-old man after it says a man tried to steal perfume from a shop on Bank Street.

Investigators say a man walked into a store on Bank Street on June 25, between Glebe Avenue and First Avenue, grabbed a perfume and hid it. When confronted by staff at the shop, he pulled out a knife and then ran away, eventually taking off in a vehicle.

The suspect was identified, located and arrested.

Nathan Gagnon, of Ottawa, is charged with:

  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Drive disqualified
  • Theft under

He will be attending show cause court Thursday.
