CORRECTION: The Ontario Provincial Police had released the name of a man believed to be the one killed in this crash, but have since retracted that name as it hadn't received proper clearance from the coroner's office yet.
The Ontario Provincial Police says an Ottawa man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding struck a guide rail in the eastbound lanes of Highway 417 near Moodie Drive.
The incident happened around 12:25 a.m. on September 12.
The driver was found a short distance from the motorcycle and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The eastbound lanes of the 417 were closed for several hours while OPP collision investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash, which remains under investigation.
