A person was rescued from the Ottawa River in the city’s downtown core after jumping off the Mackenzie King Bridge.
According to an Ottawa Fire Services press release, Ottawa and Gatineau firefighters and Ottawa paramedics received a report of a person jumping off the bridge at about 7 p.m. Saturday. Once Gatineau firefighters arrived, the person was found to be about 250 ft. from shore.
A tweet from Ottawa fire investigator Marc Messier says the person was then picked up by rescue crews near the Alexandria Bridge.

The person had landed on the ice but never went into the water.
The patient is now in the care of Gatineau Paramedic Services.
