Gatineau basement fire causes $90K in damages

Gatineau firefighters were called to a triplex to battle a basement fire that required 12 trucks and 28 firefighters.

At about 3:30 p.m. Friday, firefighters arrived on scene at 16 rue Dupuis in the city’s east end near Highway 148 and rue de Calumet and Lac Beauchamp Park.

The structure was evacuated by the time firefighters arrived.

An offensive attack allowed for firefighters to have the fire under control by about 4:30 p.m.

Investigators estimate about $90,000 in damages.
