Gatineau man charged in Rideau Street robbery

Police say a man demanded an item from an employee at a business, and threatened another employee with a knife.

The Ottawa Police Service has laid charges after a knifepoint robbery on Rideau Street, just west of King Edward Avenue.

Officers say a man walked into a business, flashed a knife and demanded an item from an employee, around 9:40 p.m. on Friday, June 26. Another employee tried to intervene, but the suspect threatened that employee with the knife. 

Police say the suspect left the area on foot and was arrested after a short foot chase. 

Jeansy Enyeka, 31, of Gatineau, is charged with:

  • Robbery with a weapon (two counts)
  • Possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence
  • Breach of Probation (two counts)

He was scheduled to appear in court on June 27.
