One seriously injured in Morrisburg house fire

An elderly man was able to get out of the building before emergency crews arrived, thanks to his neighbours.

An 80-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a fire at a home on St. Lawrence Street in Morrisburg.

The Ontario Provincial Police says emergency crews were called to the blaze at 3:20 a.m., Friday.

The elderly man was able to escape the burning home with help from his neighbours.

The South Dundas Fire Department extinguished the fire.

Investigators from the Ontario Fire Marshall (OFM), assisted by OPP officers, continue to investigate the incident.
