Ottawa police respond to suspicious package in Lowertown

Two residential buildings were evactuated as a precaution.

Ottawa police were called about a suspicious package and vehicle call Wednesday night in Lowertown. 

Officers responded to Wurtenburg Street at 8:42 p.m. and remained on the scene for several hours. 

Roads in the area had to be blocked off while crews looked into the issue. 

Two residential buildings were evactuated as a precaution. OC Transpo busses provided shelter for those who were displaced. 

Residents were allowed to return home shortly after midnight. 

Officers continue to investigate the incident.
