The Ottawa Police Service is confirming that a body has been found in a burning car on a road northwest of Carp.
Firefighters responded to a call about a car fire on Carp Road near Thomas A. Dolan Pkwy., just after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Crews were able to extinguish the blaze and reported everyone got out of the car, however, a body was located inside the vehicle after the flames were out.
Ottawa paramedics report they were unable to confirm a gender of the deceased at the scene, due to the severity of the person's burns.
A section of Carp Road was closed between Baird Side Road and Thomas A. Dolan Pkwy. while police investigated, but everything reopened overnight.
Part of their investigation will be to determine whether the fire was started by accident, vehicle malfunction, or whether arson played a role.
Police tell me they’ll be on scene for several hours still. They’re waiting for investigators. Driving up to this intersection, I saw what looked to be a black sedan either on the side of the road or in a ditch. Police say the body is still inside. #ottnews— Stuart McGinn (@Stu_McGinn) May 2, 2018
