Westboro Beach water rescue saves man after canoe overturned

The man was brought safely back to shore.

Ottawa Fire Services performed a water rescue after a man's canoe had overturned in the city's west end.

A call was received around noon Saturday reporting a person in the water near Westboro Beach next to an overturned canoe near 745 Sir John A Macdonald.

Ottawa Fire Water Rescue technicians launched water rescue boats and located the person about 500 ft. from shore.

The person was brought safely back to shore.

The man declined medical attention.
